Ximenez Improves to 7-0, 3 KO’s

If you just read the headline, you're probably kicking yourself for missing Ray Ximenez's most recent outing, wondering where exactly in Dallas/Ft. Worth did it take place.  The answer is nowhere, as Ray fought outside the Lone Star state for the first time, last Friday, May 18th, disposing of Manuel Galaviz in 55 seconds of the very 1st round (of a scheduled 6), at the Doubletree Westside Hotel in Tampa, Florida.  The bout was the first of a 4 year, six figure deal that Ximenez recently signed with Alessi Promotions, which promises to get Ray as many as five or six fights per year.

Alessi Promotions has been at it for more than 40 years now, showcasing some of the most entertaining fighters in history; Edwin Rosario, John "The Beast" Mugabi, Bobby Czyz, Cornelius Boza-Edwards and Marlon Starling, to name a few.  From the moment he saw the 19 year old former amateur stud, Phil Alessi quickly realized Ray Ximenez had the potential to reach the same heights as the aforementioned.  "He watched a video of Ray on a Monday and by that Friday, he flew us in to meet with him in Florida", said Ximenez's /trainer/manager/confidante and father, Ray, Sr.  But unlike most promotional deals, things have only gotten better and better for Ximenez, since signing the dotted line.  For example, Ray's customary boxing shoes were left back home in Dallas and as soon as Alessi learned of this, a new pair of shoes were purchased on the spot.  Trunks, apparel, equipment for the Ximenez's Pleasant Grove Boxing Gym, even Ray's boxing license were all covered by his new promoter, the way things should be.

Ray Sr. couldn't be happier or more at ease with the route he's chosen to lead his son down.  "It's a relief not having to wonder if we're going to fight or not.  Now, we know we're getting fights and all we have to do is stay ready for them", the elder Ximenez stated.  Have no fear, Metroplex fight fans, Alessi has also given Ximenez his blessing to fight on local shows as well, which Ray fully intends to do at least once or twice per year.

The first fight under the Alessi banner couldn't have went better, even if it was scripted, as Ximenez (117.8 lbs) stopped Galaviz (117.4 lbs) with a body shot.  True to their word, Alessi Promotions will keep Ray busy, featuring him in the main event of their next show, June 29th, in Florida.  Scheduled for 8 rounds, this war will be waged for a regional title.
