Roberto Marroquin’s Media Day Workout
Thursday, March 4, at the Maple Avenue Boxing Gym, in downtown Dallas, Marroquin had his media day workout which is customary with these huge shows. When I asked how long he had been training for the fight, he said he basically just took a couple of days off from his last fight. He was scheduled and was training to fight eight rounds, but found out later that it would be six rounds instead. According to Marroquin, the maximum weight to come into the fight was 124 pounds, and he was right on track to make the weight. He said had sparred with his opponent about a year and a half ago and that they were actually friends, but then he said, “Now it’s business.” Although he would not make a prediction on the fight, he knows that he must be cautious, but that he also was going into the ring to do what he has to do to win, whether it is a decision or a knockout. Thanks to an expected 40,000 plus fans in the “Death Star” and HBO‘s Pay per View, fight fans worldwide may get their first glimpse of a future world champion from Dallas, Texas. (030410) |
