| Grandpa Tony’s and Richard Steele I hate to quote Forest Gump, but I have to say it, “Life’s like a box of chocolates…you never know what you’re going to get.” Today life presented me with a tasty chunk of goodness and it all happened at Grandpa Tony’s located in Dallas at 3130 W. Mockingbird Lane – try the Carne Asada with a margarita and you’ll be set. Grandpa Tony’s hosted a media event this afternoon for the upcoming professional MMA card presented by Steele Cage MMA. The bouts will be showcased at the brand new Dr. Pepper Arena in Frisco, Texas this Thursday night at 7:30pm. The unexpected “chocolate” with these media events is you never really know who will make an appearance, and today was no exception. The tasty goodness came in the form of mingling with true Boxing and MMA stars. Today brought the likes of iconic boxing referee, Richard Steele, who’s co-hosting the card with Jeff Zimmerman. UFC and Pride legend Guy Metzger, Dickie Cole, the Commissioner for Texas Combative Sports and world-class promoters Carolyn Sanders, Greg Hatley and Mike Montoya were all in attendance. Another tasty morsel was seeing former Dallas Cowboy great “The Big Cat” Leon Lett – now wouldn’t it be something to see him throw on some 4 ounce gloves! And finally, the future of Boxing also attended, in the form of brothers Greg Jr. and Charlie “The Future” Hatley. Sources tell me there’s a good possibility Charlie will have a bout late next month, and Greg Jr. hopes to make his pro debut in September. Check www.northtexasboxing.com for details. |
