We Are North Texas Boxing(By Ex Alba)NORTH TEXAS BOXING / www.northtexasboxing.com, who and why are we? A former amateur and former professional boxer, a former boxing coach, a world wide web renowned boxing scribe, a former amateur moonlighting as a boxing journalist, a Bilingual writer who is native to south of the border, and the preeminent boxing photographer in North Texas, possibly the entire state; boxing fans, that’s who we are. Fans who were not getting their boxing fix from the mammoth local dailies. Sure, they cover the major fights and fighters; De La Hoya, Mayweather, Pavlik, et al. Don’t get us wrong, we appreciate that. But did I mention we are boxing fans? As true boxing fans we wanted to keep abreast of the local junior amateurs to the senior amateurs to the beginning pros to the seasoned pros trying to get to the big dance. All the fight coverage we felt was falling through the cracks and no one, for one reason or another, was giving it to us. In fairness to the before mentioned "dailies" we know of instances, when the press was snubbed after offering to cover local amateur events; but enough of the negative. We are here to try and give other like-minded fight fans their fix too. Where, when, and how? Our intent is to cover all combative sports in "North Texas, Oklahoma, and Beyond". Why Oklahoma? We want to. What do we mean by beyond? If one of our "local" fighters is fighting anywhere we will try to get an interview before and after the fight or at least bring you the outcome when we get it. We will always be accessible to you the boxing or MMA fan. If you know of an event, story, fight, or fighter we should cover contact us. If you disagree with something we write, contact us. If you like something we write, by all means contact us. Each of the contributors should have their email listed, feel free to… "contact us". Not only are we accessible, we do not take ourselves too seriously. When you see us at a local event, please come up and introduce yourself to us, we sincerely want to get to know other fight fans and discuss boxing or MMA with you. Who knows, we may have a free something for you just for coming and introducing yourself. Collectively we have had the privilege to have seen some of the world’s best fighters live, from the Greatest, Ali to today’s superstars. We look forward to sharing these stories with you AND hearing yours as well. Hopefully you will make www.northtexasboxing.com your first stop for local fight news. Thanx for reading, see you at the next show. [Mas en Español] |
